Pub changes name to 'THE THREE LIONS'

Footie mad publicans Adam Manning and Emma Pearce have taken their love for the beautiful game one step further by changing their pub’s name to ‘The Three Lions’ for the duration of the 2010 World Cup.

Previously called ‘The Red Lion’, the pub is in the heart of Kidlington located on Oxford Road.  Landlords Adam & Emma made the move in support of Fabio’s favourites and to back England’s bid to host the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Emma Pearce explains, “We’re football mad at the Red Lion so changing the pub’s name to ‘The Three Lions’ seemed the perfect way to show our support this World Cup.  Our locals are 100% behind the name change and share our passion for the beautiful game.”

Should England win, the pub hopes the name change will become permanent.

The Three Lions will be showing ALL the World Cup games live on the pubs big screens and to create a global atmosphere, the pub is being decorated with all 32 flags of all the participating nations.

‘The Three Lions’ has been preparing for the World Cup since January, when it launched a football ‘shirt amnesty’ asking locals to donate unwanted football shirts.  Thousands of shirts were collected and delivered to excited kids in Johannesburg and Cape Town Townships last week.

Emma Pearce, Manager of The Three Lions said: “Following the success of our shirt amnesty, we thought, what better way to thank our locals and show our support for England in South Africa by renaming our pub.”
