GRAND CHARITY BUNGEE!
In aid of the Haiti and Tsunami disasters

Adrenaline junkie Landlord Richard Jennings and his team took part in a charity bungee jump in the garden at the Olton Tavern on Lode Lane last night (17th March).
Those brave enough to take part plunged a staggering 200ft all to raise money for the Haiti and Tsunami disasters.
The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) is one of the beneficiary charities. An umbrella organisation, it launches and coordinates responses to major disasters overseas. It enables the UK public to donate to the DEC member agencies who are best placed to deliver effective and timely relief to people most in need. The other half of the money raised is set to help the Thai Children’s Trust’s Baan Tharn Namchai Orphanage in Khao Lak, Thailand. A haven for Tsunami Orphans who lost everything, it’s a vital part of a community still suffering physically and psychologically in the aftermath of the 2004 disaster.
The Olton Tavern pulled out all the stops to make sure it was a great evening for all involved. For those not daring enough to jump, there was also be a BBQ to enjoy whilst watching all the action!
Landlord Richard Jennings explains, “Nobody can fail to be moved by the devastating scenes being suffered by the people of Haiti. It also seemed right to remember the Tsunami disaster on its 5th anniversary so our charity bungee will help these two important causes. It was a fun filled evening and our regulars certainly rose to the challenge!”
Jo Furlong from the Thai Children’s Trust adds; “We’re thrilled with the support from the Olton Tavern and their generous customers.”
